Reduce your Risk of Developing Type 2 Diabetes

Did you know that over 90% of people who have Diabetes have Type 2? And did you know that most cases of Type 2 Diabetes manifest later in life? Here are some tips to reduce your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes:

Learn the Facts

In order to prevent Type 2 Diabetes, it’s important to understand it. What is it exactly? What are the symptoms? How do you treat it? These are all questions you should have the answers to.

Basically, Type 2 Diabetes occurs when there isn’t enough insulin produced by the body or when the insulin in the body is ineffective. Type 2 Diabetes is usually, but not always, caused by poor lifestyle choices. There is no permanent cure for Type 2 Diabetes, although making healthier lifestyle choices could lead to remission. In some cases, insulin injections are required, although Type 2 Diabetes can usually be treated with a healthy diet and exercise.

Watch for Signs

Type 2 Diabetes usually manifests later in life in the form of fatigue, frequent urination, slow wound healing, thirst, blurred vision and inexplicable weight loss. If you’ve experienced any of these symptoms, it’s important that you seek medical attention. If you do have Type 2 Diabetes, it’s better to find out sooner than later. Once you know, you’ll be able to treat it and get back to feeling like yourself again!

Exercise

Exercise is important for maintaining good health. Exercise also releases endorphins, which make you feel amazing! If you don’t have time to set aside to go to the gym or go on a run, make small changes in your daily routine; walk or ride your bike instead of drive, take the stairs, park farther away from the door—there are so many healthy changes you can make in your life.

Eat Well

No more junk food! A healthy diet is crucial if you want to avoid developing Type 2 Diabetes. Not only will eating well help keep your blood sugar levels consistent, but it will also help you maintain a healthy body weight. By eating a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables, protein, complex carbohydrates and grains, you can greatly reduce your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

Don’t put yourself at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes. Learn the facts, watch for signs, exercise and eat well.
